Hey, your post generated a lot of comments in the Brazilians distribution list here at Microsoft. Several Brazilians went there also, and it seems that the owners are not even Brazilians. Most had bad experiences, like you. Thanks for the warning!

Upon learning of the existence of Amazon Grill literally a block away from my apartment, I promptly paid a visit to the premises during lunch time, anxiously expecting a taste of home (I'm a born and raised carioca). The experience was hearbreaking. I'm depressely amused by your account, which could hardly be more precise. On a patriotically
hurt attempt to prevent the unwarned from taking a bad impression of my homeland cuisine, I leave a few comments:

1) The experience is far cry from a decent Brazilian grillhouse, let alone a good one.
2) The decoration... oh my goodness. I'm glad they tried. The execution, however, was poor. Eating meat with an onça overseeing my dish was unsettling, to say the least.
3) Yeah, now we know the food is nowhere near what you would eat in the great steakhouses of Rio or São Paulo, but if at least they served *good* food, it would have not been in vain. Not the case.
4) The Brazilian community is anxiously waiting for the long due opening of Ipanema Grill at the Harbor Steps, which - we hope - will live up to the challenge. Time will tell.

Anonymously yours,
A. Capistrano
