Vin du Lac of Chelan "Barrel Select" Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

CAB_SAUV03_small We had some great wine over the holidays, and I found this one to be one of our favorites, from one of our favorite wineries.   The folks over at Vin du Lac are the best, if you are ever in Chelan take the time to stop in and visit at their cozy yellow, french inspired winery and tasting room.  Their patio on a sunny summer day is one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots in the state.

According to Vin du Lac: Malbec and Petit Verdot add red fruit, depth and structure to the elegant backbone of Cabernet Sauvignon in this bordeaux blend.  The wine was aged for 21 months in 90% new French oak.  2004 was a warm vintage, and the wine is ripe and full bodied.  However, the wine has substantial acid and ample, mature tannins, making this an elegant, food friendly and age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon blend.

What I think: I like just about everything we get from Vin du Lac: Cuvee Rouge and Pinot Gris.  What I enjoyed most about this wine was the silky smoothness of the blend (and the absense of Merlot in a blend for a change).

    I agree,
That Ghost 413 is an excellent wine. I found it at a QFC when I was visiting my sister and was intrigued with the name. What a lovely surprise.
