Riesling
Jun 27th, 2008 | By Sean O'Connor | Category: Food and Wine, WineDorothy Gaiter and John Brecher of the WSJ are some of the best wine journalists/critics in the world. Their articles are focused on the right aspects of enjoying wine - in our opinion. They tell the stories of the individuals, the history of the varietals, and dig up the facts that only a couple seasoned WSJ contributors could.
Today’s article about a Washington State Riesling points out some interesting trends in the wine world:
- Riesling is the fastest growing white varietal in the U.S.
- Sales have risen for the last two years
- U.S. Riesling sales increasing by 11% and sales of imported Riesling increasing by 24%.
- Total imports of all German wine into the U.S. doubled between 2002 and 2007
My favorite Riesling is the off dry offering from Vin Du Lac, the 2006 was just released.
