Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher of the WSJ are some of the best wine journalists/critics in the world. Today’s article about a Washington State Riesling points out some interesting trends in the wine world:

• Riesling is the fastest growing white varietal in the U.S.
• Sales have risen for the last two years
• U.S. Riesling sales increasing by 11% and sales of imported Riesling increasing by 24%.
• Total imports of all German wine into the U.S. doubled between 2002 and 2007
