Hollywood Hills 2005 Syrah
Jul 16th, 2008 | By Sean O'Connor | Category: Wine of the WeekThis week’s featured wine is once again from the great winemaking state of Washington. This past Sunday, Liz and I stopped by for our first visit to Hollywood Hills. What a beautiful place to have a home and vineyard and a winery! The owner and winemaker, Steve is THE viticulture expert of the Puget Sound AVA and we had a nice conversation with him about their successes growing grapes in Woodinville.
We drove away with a couple bottles of their tasty 2005 Syrah, a couple of big smiles, and dreams of owning land in Woodinville.
According to Hollywood: In 2005 we blended the luscious dense fruit from Red Mountain with the structured and angular fruit from Rattlesnake Hills to produce this delicious and balanced wine. With a fruit forward nose, this Syrah expresses black cherries and berries, with subtle peppery notes. Vanilla notes soften the finish, while still allowing the candied fruit flavors to emerge.
