Karma Methode Champenoise

We just got back from a long holiday weekend in gorgeous Lake Chelan.  We enjoyed many good wines, lots of great food, and plenty of activities and socializing.  This week’s wine of the week was one of the surprises from an afternoon of tasting.

Having never been to the recently opened Karma Vineyards on the South Shore of Lake Chelan, we decided that our first visit called for a sparkling wine, the only sparkling wine being bottled in the area.

karma This blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is crisp and dry, and went perfect with an afternoon on their quaint patio not far from the lake.  Our cellar tour with Ron Miller was also enjoyable.  Ron described that Methode Champenoise is french for "how champagne is made," and that champagne is only technically grown in the Champagne region of France. This sparkling wine is made in the traditional method – through a secondary fermentation in the bottle.

The wine is available online or onsite in Chelan.
