Back in September I reviewed the 2007 Veramonte Riserva Sauvignon Blanc – a tasty, great value wine.
Last month I had the privilege to get my hands on a pre-release of the 2008 Riserva. I chose Thanksgiving as the occasion to open the bottle, so I could get some general thoughts from some of my family members. The verdict: best wine of the day. Wow, big words. We opened a few good cabs, but I actually agreed with everyone, the Veramonte was the best wine we had on Thanksgiving. It was very fresh, grassy, with some nice citrus thrown in. This is a food friendly wine and a perfect wine to drink on its own.
Prices look to be near the 2007 range ($12). Ladies and gentlemen, this is a deal if there ever was one. When you see the ‘08 on the shelves soon pick up a bottle and you will not be disappointed.
